Using Keepad feedback to enhance classroom learning: Actively engaging students in learning

In this session you will learn first-hand how interactive keypads are being used as a teaching and learning tool, enabling Educators to engage and involve students and receive real-time feed-back.

Research has shown the benefits of utilising interactive keypads in teaching, including encouraging participation, improving understanding, increasing retention and adding excitement and enthusiasm to traditional education and training methods. Use of the system also creates opportunities to quickly check student understanding.

 KEEpad is a revolutionary new tool that allows educators to actively engage all their students in the learning process.  It is easy-to-use technology that enables teachers to ask multiple-choice questions during their classes, and have every student respond, anonymously if preferred. The responses are collated by the software and are available immediately for graphical display, while also being stored for later use.  The software comes with a range of class and individual student reports that can be produced at the conclusion of the lesson.

 KEEpad creates a fun learning environment, helps reinforce learning, promotes class discussion and, importantly, university research shows it assists in improving learning outcomes.

Research has shown that in order for deep learning to occur over surface learning we need to be actively engaged and involved in the learning process. This being the case the standard practice of ‘Lecturing’ to your audience may no longer be enough. So, how do we engage our audience and ensure they become active participants rather than the traditional passive note-takers (or one of those who nods off at the back of the room!)?

 The KEEpad presentation will display the power of the KEEpad system in allowing you to:

·                     interact fully with every student, to obtain real-time feedback and opinions;

·                     reinforce content by asking questions, thereby monitoring group / individual understanding;

·                     involve everyone without fear of being singled out or embarrassed;

·                     Display the results immediately in graphical format, while storing the data for later use.

 See how this system is bringing many benefits to Australian Classrooms and Lecture theatres and freeing teachers to teach. Hear what Australian Lecturers, Primary and Secondary teachers and students have to say about their experiences with the technology.
